Mental Vacation...

Hey, there!! I'm still among the living!!

Sorry I've been away for a few days. Actually I haven't been away physically but mentally. Just wasn't in the mood to blog or read blogs. You know how that goes sometimes.

My life has been pretty boring this week. The highlight of my week has been receiving the Biggest Loser cookbook that I ordered. Wow, it is a great book. It has lots and lots of great recipes in it. And to beat it all they don't have weird or hard to find ingredients. There are some spices that I don't usually keep in my cupboard on my spice shelf, but that is easily remedied. One other ingredient that is used a lot is whole wheat low fat tortillas and I can't find them here, but I'm going to check into ordering them from somewhere if they don't need to be refrigerated. And if that's not possible I'll just use what I can find.

Yesterday morning while I was using the bathroom first thing, I glanced out one of the windows and there were 4 deer on the bank behind my house. I stood at the window and just watched for a while. Then went into the kitchen to gt my cup of coffee and there were 3 more in the front. I ran back and forth to see if it was the same ones or not but it wasn't. That was a real experience to find my house surrounded by deer. I really love where I live!!

re your comments on my blog: When Derrick got shot I was like "holy noodle, they will have to get him NAKED to save him!", but alas, they didn't! HAHA

I do like The Mentalist, EXCEPT that I find the vests that the dude wears a little creepy. I thought this week's episode (where he was blind) was one of the best yet.

I have the first Biggest Loser Cookbook and use it all the time. I had forgotten what good food was in there. I'm ordering the new one as soon as I finish this comment. :) Running back to front, and front to back to see the deer...does that count as excersise? S'pose it depends on how far the front of the house is from the back and vice versa. In any case, what a treat to wake up to some of Mother Nature's finest work.

Just think of the exercise you got running back and forth! Hope you didn't spill your coffee. :)

I would love to get that cookbook. I would love to see deer around my house. I have to drive about a mile before I could see them. What a beautiful sight that must have been. Take care.

I love deer! We used to see them a lot where my mom used to live. I miss that!

And you are so right about the preaching part - as you said on my blog!

Whole wheat flour tortillas sound very good. I am from upstate, NY. Have seen and hit plenty of deer with my car. It is great to see them, sucks to run into them.

with all the connected to electronics in my life I adore the sudden intrusion of nature.

When we lived up north I loved that. Waking up watching the sun rise and seeing the deer come through. Peaceful!

I'm not a big cookbook fan as I don't like to cook, BUT I will take a look at this one on your recommendation. Just visted your food blog and my mouth was watering!

I'm green with envy, would love to live somewhere peaceful with deer surrounding my house. There's a farm immediately behind our house, and we do on occasion see deer or scat, and we've had a skunk or two in our yard...but I'd like to live where there are no neighbors. =)

I might have to check out this TBL cookbook. I can look at the pictures if nothing else. :)

You might check Wal-mart for the tortillas. They show lc-lf tortillas on their website.

If that doesn't work, you might check out this link:

Same brand.

Have a great weekend!

I would love to live in such a serene setting. I will have to leave the city someday when we don't have to work anymore. That won't be for a few decades though :)
