From the Horrible Looking Old Lady...

I'm still hangin' in there.

Went off the mountain today to pick up the mail and got a nice surprise. Well, sort of a surprise, because I knew it was coming but just didn't know when. I ordered Charlie Hills' book "Why Your Last Diet Failed You and How This Book Won't Help You on Your Next One." I haven't started it yet but will tonight and will let you know how it is. Charlie writes over at Back to the Fridge. If you haven't checked him out, drop on over for a chuckle or two.

An interesting thing happened this afternoon. One of my neighbors came over for me to help her sign up electronically for Social Security. The first thing she said when she walked in was, "you look horrible." I just smiled and said thanks. She's the one that keeps encouraging me to quit losing weight and is having a hard time losing any herself.

Hope your weekend is going well.

That does it! I'm comin' up there and kick some butt! I can't believe that woman would say that to you!

Charlie's a good writer. Hope you enjoy the book!

Amazon had this comment about that book: "Follow one man's remarkable 192-month journey as he loses seventeen thousand pounds and about half of his sanity."

Uh, okay. I think I just passed him on that journey. I've lost all my sanity.

Gotta love Charlie!

Um...you DID do something to make her social security delayed after her comment, right? Can't believe she would say something so mean and untrue!

How funny!! Sounds like jealously to me. You are such a nice person for not kicking her off your porch. HA!! I just had a visual of that one.

I'm excited to hear your take on Charlie's book. He is a funny guy.

Alright, sounds like your neighbor needs a snow boot stuck where the sun don't shine! Where do people get off saying stuff like that. Just want to smack em! I've heard that book is a great read. Can't wait to hear how you like it!

Sometimes people just don't know what's coming out of their own mouth. I have had some comments like that, but I have had far more good comments. I feel good about me, so that is what counts. I can tell you feel good about yourself and your journey. I think you are doing a great job. (o: I am going to go look at that guys site.

How rude! The very nerve of her to say that! Besides, it's you has the final say in when you are comfortable with you. So there!

The book sounds interesting. Keep us in the know!

I am sure she means well, by saying you look fine. But she should be there to support either way.

She sounds like a very cantankerous old lady with alot of nerve to say something like that and then ask for your help. And it says alot about you to take it in stride and still help her. Jinx!

Ooh, I might need to read that book too. I laughed about your nervy old lady story. Maybe it's her plan to make you think that your efforts aren't working so that you will just give up. pfft, you know better! :) Keep up the great work, we support you!

I never really care much about what people say about me - I hear the whispers and fat jokes as I labor on by. But when someone deliberately tells something like that to my face, like my mother often doesn, I just delete them from my life, and often never encounter them again. No matter my appearance, my Self and my BEing is much more important to me that anyone's "opinion" of me. She will rot in her own filth one day... and she's not you! Saturday I went to visit my MIL. As soon as I walked in the door she said "Are you sick? You don't look good!" I resisted the impulse to say "right back at you" ;p Harumph.
